# Quick start

From install to your first issued badge in five minutes.

This walkthrough opens the Badge Studio, issues a police badge at the included Mission Row desk and shows it to another player.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Open the Badge Studio

As an admin, type **`/badgestudio`**. The Studio opens with the nine included badges, each tagged **FILE**. Click **Police** to see its live preview. Close it with **ESC**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Go to the desk

Go to the Mission Row front desk (`441.79, -981.98, 30.69`). You need the `police` job at **grade 3 or higher**, or admin rights.

{% hint style="info" %}
Using an MLO for Mission Row? Open `/badgestudio` → **Desks** → **+ Add desk here** where you stand, tick **Police** under "Badges issued here" and click **Create**.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Issue the badge

With a second player standing within 3 m, pick **Issue Police badge** (target option or `[E]` prompt).

1. A short "Preparing the badge..." bar runs.
2. The recipient's photo is taken.
3. A review panel opens with the photo, the badge number and the rank. Click **Retake photo** if needed.
4. Click **Confirm & issue**. The recipient gets the item and sees their new badge once.

Testing alone? Pick **Issue my own Police badge** (you must hold the `police` job yourself), or type `/issuebadge police self` as an admin.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Show it

Use the badge item in the inventory, or type **`/badge`**. Everyone within 3.5 m sees the wallet with the metal badge and the photo ID card. Press **Backspace** to put it away.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Revoke it

Open `/badgestudio` → **Registry**, find the badge and click **Revoke**. Show it again: it's stamped **REVOKED** for everyone.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

{% hint style="success" %}
**Next:** make a badge for your own job. In the Studio click **+ New badge**, pick a preset, set the jobs and the issuers, and click **Create**. See [Badge Studio](/visionstore-docs/scripts/badges/guides/badge-studio.md).
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://visionstore.gitbook.io/visionstore-docs/scripts/badges/quick-start.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
